I admit it. I’m pretty much in love with the bronze wall tile still life constructions created by self-taught artists Jack and Alice McLean.

Each tile is welded, forged, machined and colored with a hot process patina, then constructed and assembled with antique and recycled glass beads collected from around the globe.

Bronze Wall Tiles In Situ

“I approach each bronze wall tile as a still life- a study in color, texture and composition. I want my pieces to look “made” and to retain evidence of my hand and thought.”

I like the Wallboats too.

I’ve been a fan of Jackie Abrams’ work for several years. In fact, I was certain that I had featured her on DAM before. . .but I was wrong. Oh, so wrong!  Without further delay. . .please enjoy Abrams’ wonderful paper and wire woven baskets.

Sara Renzulli enjoyed a professional career as a painter for more than 20 years before she taught herself needle felting. She quickly fell in love with the craft and her distinct style of creating animals with natural fibers found a following that continues to grow today. While researching this morning’s artist I came across the undeniably amazing fused and kiln formed orchids created by glass artist Laura Hart. Each flower petal is fired four times to achieve the colors and details, then they are fused together before final touches give the blossoms life.
The orchids measure 10″ by 2.5″. So lovely. .Continue Reading

I’m always on the lookout for glass jewelry that WOWs me – it doesn’t happen often enough, but Sara Fell’s metal inclusions in cast and fused glass did the trick for me today. She loves the unpredictable nature of the process. I love the results.

Elly MacKay has a daydreamer’s imagination, creating little worlds from paper and paint then setting them into a paper theatre and photographing them. Sweet and beautifully crafted. The artist sells prints of the mostly-childhood themes, and has recently authored and illustrated a book.

I teach artists how to create WordPress websites that showcase their art. Beautiful.Continue Reading

It’s been a long day. One of those days when I need to look at something softly colored and easy on the eyes. New York’s Carly Wright hit the sweet spot tonight with her enameled jewelry collection. Inspired by layers of sedimentary rocks, windows and doors, the work has a painterly feel to it.

Since 2007 I have come back again and again to Shelly Muzylowski Allen’s glass menagerie. She continues to add animals and I continue to be under her spell.
