I’m in and out this week taking care of some personal business. One day I’ll tell you all about this wild ride I’ve been on for the last several months and the reason why DAM’s posts are sometimes daily and sometimes not so daily. For now, please let your eyes rest on Tony Foard’s strikingly beautiful women. I’m smitten.
Foard, who describes himself as an English potter, hand builds each female figure using white clay. Each sculpture is fired several times in sections and they all have a distinctively African feel to them. The color often comes from controlling the way the smoke penetrates the surfaces, in addition to glazes and lustres.
His goal is for each slender figure to have ‘attitude’. As a woman with attitude, I like that.
