I’m captivated by Annie Peaker’s figurative ceramic sculptures depicting African women in tribal garb going about their daily routines. The work explores beauty and movement, with the artist elongating some of the figures to give dramatic emphasis to their elegance. So lovely. . .really.
The UK artist, who taught secondary school art for 18 years, spent several months traveling through Africa in the 1980′s – the experience gave her “an unforgettable insight into the people and their cultures.” Peaker’s women are a glimpse into the culture she fell in love with all those years ago.

Beautiful!Love the movement and the colors!
Beautiful!
Your works are beautifully executed! I am a sculptor myself and appreciate the color and boldness it portrays in these STRONG women!
