What happens when two artists, working in the same medium using different techniques, come together and collaborate on a piece? You get the soft, sensuous curves of a Dave Bowers sculpture enhanced by Molly Winton’s stellar wood burning.
Winton and Bowers both began working with wood after leaving behind other careers. The piece above, created in 2006, is one of two collaborative sculptures from the artists.
Ohio based Bowers has become known for the soft curving shapes he coaxes from a piece of wood. Sensuous.
Winton, who lives in Edmonds, WA, taps her lifelong interest in Native American and prehistoric art for wood burning inspiration. Beautiful.
It’s been several years since the artists collaborated on the sculpture pictured above. Their individual work has deepened and matured since then. I would love to see another collaboration. Hmmm…I’m already imagining it. Dave? Molly? What do you say?
