evelien sipkes: perpetual motion

The sculptures below were inspired by coral found in the waters near Evelien Sipke’s home on the island of Curacao. Part of her Perpetual Motion collection, each sculpture has a necklace nestled into its structure.  Add her name to the growing list of artists adept at making simple, repeating shapes sing!

Sipke’s website gives us a glimpse of the different styles and materials she has used over the years to create her jewelry – silk, glass, copper, velvet, hemp, cotton, silver, linen, organza and more.  Lots of color, texture, and fun.  Take your time there, you won’t be disappointed.

I couldn’t resist showing you one more picture.  The ‘coral eggs’ hold porcelain rings and earrings. I love this!
