On the East Coast we’ve put our gardens to bed and watch as the leaves begin their glorious color shift, marking the change of seasons. At the Rhinebeck Crafts Fair on Saturday I happened upon a colorful garden oasis amid the crowded aisles of finely crafted jewelry, sculpture, pottery, glass and furniture.
Stepping inside Elizabeth Rubidge’s booth, I was struck by how effectively she created a quiet space where the busy atmosphere of the fair slipped away – I was only aware of the beautiful colors palettes and floral motifs of Rubidge’s Felted Garden. The artist has been felting for just a few years, but her 20 years of experience as an award winning children’s clothing designer in NYC is evident in every flower, every color combination, every design decision. The pictures don’t do justice to these wet felted and needle felted accessories.
If you are looking for garden flowers to carry you through the drab winter months until next spring, consider wrapping yourself in one of Rubidge’s Felted Garden Scarves. Could be a good way to keep your muse warm and happy…
