blog birthday giveaway!

I want to celebrate the blog’s birthday. Fun, right? I’ve put together a package of 6 great books representing a few of the mediums that I feature on Daily Art Muse and I’m going to give it all to one lucky winner. Yup, one lucky winner.  It could be you.

Here’s how it works:

To participate, please leave a comment on this post.  Say happy birthday or let me know what features you would like me to introduce on DAMuse or tell me what the blog means to you – or just say hello!  I’ll leave the comments open until Sunday night.  Then on Monday I’ll put all of the names in a hat and the boss will pick one.

Here are the juicy, creative books that the winner will receive:

1.  Art from the Heart – mixed media collage by Catherine Matthews-Scanlon

2.  Welcome to the Jungle – polymer clay sculpture by Christi Friesen

3.  Artful Paper Dolls by Terry Taylor

4.  Felted Bags, Boots and other things by Cendrine Armani

5.  Stitched Collage – creative effects on paper and fabric by Sherrill Kahn

6.  1000 Glass BeadsLark Books

And maybe a surprise or two from me.  You know, if the response is good I could be persuaded to make this a regular thing, so tell your friends! C’mon – all you have to do is leave a comment to enter the giveaway. I’ve been told before that when you want to do something you should just…

Do it!  😉

  2. What a beautiful blog/website. I am getting back into polymer clay. I’ve been out for about a year. Our third child came a year ago this month. I’ve been busy, but so happy to be back claying.

I am glad she did because I teach three-dimensional art at the high school level. Your site provides a wealth of stimulating photos, commentaries, and links that I can talk about and refer students to read, think about, and visit. Thanks for providing such breath and depth of creative jumpstarts!

  12. Getting tired of the compliments yet?? ;^)

I love your blog and it’s how I start my day (along with PCC and Polymer Clay Daily — the perfect trio!) I am constantly amazed and amused by what you find and share, and I only wish I had time enough to let the ideas I get here flow and develop — alas my “day job” doesn’t leave much time for clay right now.

Congratulations on the anniversary and thank you for sharing.

Your site is one of the first things I check in the am and the last things I check at night! In large part to the wonderful inspiration you provide, a few weeks ago I converted my spare room into a studio! I’ve always wanted a dedicated space and I decided my family could sleep on the floor when visiting!

  19. Happy Birthday Susan! i can’t believe it’s only 2 years, because for me last two years is like long, new, wonderful life with polymerclay and your blog always was with me, every day. thank you

  20. Susan, I am a relatively new visitor to your blog but am enjoying it immensely. I save it until later in the day and let the art and innovations and creativity wash away whatever the world has dished out earlier. I hope all these comments will let you know what a great service you are providing to the creative community out here – such inspiration. And thank you for sharing about your Dad – it was very touching and sweet.
Keep on keeping on! Happy Birthday. chris

  22. Susan, I’m so happy you’ve hung in this long with this awesome daily creative kick in the pants. I hope you get enough continual feedback to motivate you to continue. I love the places on the web that you’ve connected me to that I never even dreamed existed, let alone could have found without you! You’ve got me exploring colour, texture, shape, value, alternative surfaces, varied media – in short, you fill my creative cup every time I come here. Thank you.

  23. After years wandering in the creative desert wilderness bought on by paths not of my chosing, I stumbled across your blog and in the process polymer clay. The inspiration found on your site has re-kindled my creative desire and I am now follow this path and saying no to other diversions more often!
Happy Birthday and thank you Susan, may you continue to provide inspiration, and food for the soul for years to come.

  24. Happy Birthday again and thank you for all that you do for everyone all over the world!

I left a message this morning after reading about your “birth” and your Dad’s role in it. I hope that that may be counted in Happy Blogday Giveaway !!!! 🙂

  25. A most Happy Birthday to this blog I visit several times a day, just to see what wonderful new stuff is up. I have a shortcut on my desktop and realized yesterday, I use it more than any other. Beside polymer clay, I have a printing press and I have received untold number of inspirations for prints from the things you post, from quirky to extremely beautiful.

The blog is really part of my daily life, and I should have said thank you before this – but I am saying it now.

    Thank!

    Leslie

  27. Hello, Susan. Congratulations! Maybe it surprises you, I live in Argentina and I’ve been coming to see your posts for some time now. Though I don´t work in polymer clay, I find your inspirations very interesting, and believe me, I’ve known about lots of incredible artists throughout the world becase of you!
As I live so far, of course you don´t have to include me in the giveaway, I just wanted to say hello, have a nice birthday, and thank you!

  28. Happy Blogbirthday, my friend! It seems like you’ve ALWAYS been here inspiring us day after day. The art world would be a much less beautiful place without you and Daily Art Muse. May you enjoy continued success with your wonderful blog!

  29. Happy birthday! I love your blog and check it every day, sometimes twice a day – and the post about your Dad just now almost made me cry…
    Keep inspiring us, and thanks,

  30. Oh! Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!
I’m so glad you were “born”. I think my life is richer by the inspiration, beauty and Wow moments you’ve brought into it.
What a great prize; someone is gonna be LUCKY!!

That reminds me… I wanted to tell you about a book you featured here, _Thinkertoys_. I asked my library for it and they didn’t have it, but because of my request they decided to order and add it to their collection. Cool, huh?

Have a great birthday weekend. Kisses for the boss. 😉

  31. Susan
Your post about “two words” was a real tearjerker, and very uplifting. I am inspired by your blog everyday! Happy happy birthday or anniverary or whatever you want to call it. Please accept my gratitude for your wonderful work and for sharing so much joy and encouragement with me and with everyone who reads your blog.

  32. Yay!!! I absolutely love your site Susan. I can always rely on DAMuse to “whisper” inspirations my way. From recycling waste materials into remarkably analytically-designed works to your latest “discoveries” in the studio, I am always delighted to visit the site each day, looking my next inspiration fix.

Why just last week, there was a post about Teresa Ilene Redden’s paper and glue sculptures. It reminded me so much of chain maile patterns and yet, I was intrigued to discover how the patterns would translate into fabrics, such as openwork and appliques. I still have this exploratory venture on my Explorations list. ^_^.

I look forward to many more years of “inspiring whispers”. Congratulations! ^_^.

  33. Hi Susan. It’s me, Morgan. I decided to check out this Daily Art Muse site more thoroughly than I had done in the past and I must say I am Blown Away by every aspect of it; your writing, your findings, your following, your dedication. I am so glad that you have something you are so passionate about. I am not writing here to win the books, I just simply want to congratulate you on your work. I look forward to checking your blogs now everyday and will forward your beautifully theraputic website to other artistic souls such as ourselves. Best, Morgan

  34. Happy Birthday to DAMuse! I was planning to write even without the contest – really! I read only 2 blogs each and every weekday, and yours is always the second one — because I want to save the best for last! I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy the diverse inspiration. Thank you!

  35. I was introduced to your web site when a friend sent me a link to the felted boots. I have been hooked ever since and I check the first thing in the morning. The site is inspiring and informative. Thanks for you efforts and HAPPY BIRTHDAY

  36. I can’t believe that you don’t have any responses yet!! I read your blog everyday before I go to “work”!!! More like play!!! I so love the other blogs that you find for us….the computer impaired!! well, not all of us are computer impaired, but I am and I am glad you are not!!! Love all the treasures that you find and am seriously jealous of your “octopus” bangles!!!So, keep playing and looking, you are doing a great job!!! Kelly

  37. Hey, you don’t have to put my name in the hat…not that your items aren’t wonderful but earlier today I saw your post about the beginning of your blog in the middle of my early morning rush and it touched me. I meant to come back and comment and it just slipped by until I got notice of this new entry.

You have a wonderful blog…my work doesn’t quite fit in with everything but I enjoy the variety and comments and I do get inspiration from the subjects and from you, yourself.

So, I apologize for not commenting…I have a blog and know how much comments mean but sometimes we readers get all the benefits and forget to say so. You should get comments, not for giving out prizes, but because you have a wonderful blog that you have put your heart and soul into.

My prize is reading this every day, so really, no name in the hat for me. 🙂

So, finally…. a very Happy Birthday to your wonderful blog, and I’m sure that I’m only one of a multitude that truly enjoys it but just doesn’t get around to commenting as we should.

Thank you and I know your dad is bursting with pride.

  38. oooo, pick me, pick me!!!! Do I get any credit for being the first poster?

Seriously, though, Susan, this post is my favourite spot on the web, every day. I can’t wait for Mondays to see what wonderful things you’ve found. Thank you , sincerely, for this blog. It sparks my creativity daily.

  39. Only two years? Wow, seems like you’ve alwys been here! Of all of the vast resources available on the web, this site is one of two that I visit at least once every day, without fail. I turn to you for creative inspiration, encouragement and introduction to areas of the art world I might never stumble on myself.
Keep up the good work, it is much appreciated!

  40. Susan, Happy 2nd birthday to the blog! I’ve been with you since inception and love what you’ve done and are doing. Your posts have inspired my creative, my voice and even my actions. Today, the blog about your dear Father inspired tears! Much luck and love in the future!

    Hugs,
    Sandi
