Sculptor Doug Owen and his wife Grace scour ditches, abandoned lots and old farms looking for scrap metal that will help Owen tell stories about the forces of nature.
Life size horses made with steel armatures are sheathed in twisted metal siding and rusted wire evoking the power of a tornado to crumple or the wind to sing through open spaces.
I was struck by the personality, the obvious sway and swagger of these life size creatures.

Doug Owen’s horses are featured outdoors at all Landmark Banks across north Texas and southern Oklahoma. They are really amazing in person. If we move to the Lake Texoma area, we will select Landmark Bank for our accounts because of their support of excellent public art.
I saw your work at the Landmark Bank in Ardmore, and was so amazed by your talent that I had to track down your name so I could check out your work on the net.
The next time I have extra funds, I’m looking to buy a couple for my acreage.
Thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of us.
My husband & I fell in love with your horses at Caldwell Snyder Gallery in St Helena. I love the fact you use recyclable materials. We currently live in Tampa Fl. Would they do well in our climate?
Are you represented in Florida?
Thank you.
